The Purpose of Karate Training -

Karate lessons can help with fitness, self defense, discipline, and confidence. Our karate school / dojo is located at 118 Sauls St., Lake City, South Carolina (near Florence, Conway, and Sumter). We are dedicated to the self defense needs of the Pee Dee area! The core training programs include karate classes, self defense instruction, strength and fitness, and MMA training (mixed martial arts). Family and group discounts may be arranged. The style taught at Johnston Karate is my own formulation of Heiwado (the style of Japan International Karate Center). This style maintains the classic principles of soft evasive movements and hard direct strikes, as well as development of the mind and body. The other primary influences include Brazilian Jiujitsu and Western Sport Boxing. My formulation is a heavy handed, light footed style that emphasizes fast, unpredictable, cat-like movement. The available training equipment includes free weights, weight bench, boxing stand, jump ropes, martial arts weapons, karate striking pads, and bag gloves.
